Welcome to Obsidian Cliff.

Officially, this site is the face of my San Francisco-based web design business, specializing in customized, standards-compliant websites.

Unofficially, this is my own little playground where I can tinker, test, play and basically build anything that interests me at the moment. I don't have much to say, so there's no blog. I like to take pictures, but don't have enough for a flickr stream, and I still haven't jumped onto the Twitter wagon. So basically, what you'll find here is a collection of some of my recent work, a few projects that I've been playing around with and some other random stuff. Have a look around if you don't believe me.

About Me

I was born in Cody, Wyoming and grew up 20 miles from Yellowstone National Park. Bachelor's degree in English from the University of Wyoming. Master's degree in Creative Writing with an emphasis in Poetry from San Francisco State University. What does all this have to do with my work as a web designer? Not much, but it's who I am.

These days, I work full time at San Francisco State University, where I do everything from web development, to Section 508 compliance testing, to teaching workshops on HTML, Photoshop, CSS, you name it.

Want some more insight into who I am? Check out some of my recent projects and client work.

Work

Curious about what kinds of sites I make? No? ... Oh.

Well, let's just pretend for a second that you are interested. This is the place where you can see some samples of the sites and applications I've been working on recently. The sites listed here are a combination of independent jobs and work I've done in my job as a web developer at San Francisco State University. Check it out:

The Bridge School

Photography by Janel

Photography by Janel is the business site for Janel Long, a freelance photographer working out of Idaho.

My photographs reflect simple, true life images. I strive to capture the heart of my subject in a one of a kind way without using either artificial props or stilted poses. You will get the kind of photograph that sparks a memory, touches the heart and brings a smile to your face.

Projects

Welcome to my own little web playground. This is the place where I fiddle around with whatever strikes my fancy at the moment. Whether it's a full-fledged development project, or just a little joke between friends, if I spend any time on it, chances are it will show up here at one point or another. You know that stereotype of the designer who is already thinking about the next design before he finishes the current one? Yeah, that pretty much sums up this site. I do my best to keep everything working when I make changes, but this is the web after all, and things tend to break from time to time. If you experience any problems with the site, please let me know.

On a more professional level, if you've got some web work that needs doing and are interested in hiring me, you can contact me with the details. If the project sounds interesting to me and I have the time to take it on, I'll let you know and we'll work on turning your idea into a living, breathing site (well, living at least).

Long story short, if you want to talk to me, do it here: . I do my very best to respond in a timely manner, but please don't hold it against me if it takes me a few days to get back to you.
